Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

#14 Women's Soccer Loses to Saint Rose in NE10 Championship, 4-1

Albany, N.Y. - In a showdown between the two leading seeds for the NE10 title, the Adelphi University women's soccer team lost by a 4-1 final to three-time defending NE10 Tournament champion The College of Saint Rose Sunday at the Plumeri Sports Complex.

Despite the result, the Panthers (12-3-4) immediately put the No. 1 nationally-ranked Golden Knights (19-0) on their heels, opening the scoring 5:33 into the contest.

The Brown and Gold came out of the gate aggressive on the attack, and NE10 All-Tournament Team selection Kayleigh Goodrich managed to fight off a defender and deliver a left-footed strike inside the right post for the game's opening tally.

Minutes later, Goodrich nearly had the 'Cats out to a 2-0 lead. Still in the opening minutes of the match, Jessica Schmitt played a perfect cross to the far post for a Goodrich header that was stopped on the line by Saint Rose starting goalkeeper Pia Bozic.

The Golden Knights then took over like the top-ranked scoring attack they are, and outshot Adelphi 6-1 for the remainder of the half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

2023 NE10 Player of the Year Mia Klammer picked up a brace in the contest, as the hosts scored four times on seven shots on target.

The four goals were the most allowed by the Panthers in a game this season.

Head Coach Brooke DeRosa and her Adelphi squad will now await word on their seeding in the 2023 NCAA Division II Championship. The selection show is set to air Monday (Nov. 13) at 6:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
