Springfield, Mass. - In its final road match of the 2023 regular season, the Adelphi University men's soccer team lost a 2-1 decision to NE10 rival American International College on Saturday at Ronald J. Abdow Field.

The Panthers (9-6-1, 5-4 NE10) came out of the gate strong in the first forty-five, but were unable to produce a goal before the half.

Despite being outshot 8-3 in the initial period, the Yellow Jackets (3-5-8, 3-3-3 NE10) still struck first in the contest.

Although his initial touch was denied, AIC's Esben Guldager put a loose ball inside the near post to break the scoreless tie in the 57th minute.

Just after Pablo Herrera subbed into the game, however, the senior -- only minutes later -- bent a free kick into the net for the equalizer.

It was a penalty in the 74th minute that made all the difference. With Christian Torres being taken down inside the area, AIC's Jonny Tekie stepped to the spot for the penalty and hesitated before converting into the lower-right corner for the eventual game-winner.

While the Panthers have already clinched a spot in this year's NE10 Championship, the seeding for the 'Cats won't be determined until following Tuesday's result against Franklin Pierce.
