Garden City, N.Y. - As it wrapped up its fall schedule Friday afternoon, the Adelphi University men's tennis team defeated Farmingdale State College, 7-0, at the Adelphi Tennis Courts in Garden City.
A 6-0 top-doubles victory by
Marko Jovanovic and
Gabriel Balestero set the tone for the entire match.
Salomon Arce Lema and
Henrique Souza were the next to finish, prevailing 6-2 at the No. 3 flight that clinched the team doubles point for the Panthers (2-0).
Viktor Hockl and
Thiago Negrao got singles started with respective 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at the No. 2 and No. 4 positions.
Balestero assumed the No. 1 singles spot and won 6-1, 6-2 in straight sets.
Reece Farrow contributed a 6-3, 6-1 decision in third singles.
Thomas Horsley also earned a 6-0, 6-0 result, in fifth singles. Souza was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 6 singles.
The Adelphi men's tennis team will return for its traditional season in the spring, with a doubleheader on Feb. 11 in the greater Boston area at MIT and Boston University.
