Greenwood, Ind. - On Wednesday, Adelphi University student-athletes Kailey Broderick, of women's lacrosse and Jackie Brown, of field hockey, were selected as Division II Third Team Academic All-Americans, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

To be nominated for this award, a student-athlete must be a starter with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. These student-athletes also earned these honors by receiving CoSIDA Academic All-District awards for their outstanding academic performances.

Also a member of the defensive squad for her team, from Greenlawn, N.Y., Broderick finished off her career by earning Academic All-American honors for the first time. She led a defensive group with the fewest goals allowed per game in the NE10 with an average of 6.38 per meeting. She's the first Panther to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American since 2019 and joins six other former female lacrosse athletes in the process.

This past season, Broderick captured the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year while ranking second on the team in caused turnovers with 33. Her achievements when playing are astonishing, to say the least. During her time getting her undergraduate degree in Physical Education she accumulated a 3.62 grade point average and a 3.96 grade point average while pursuing her master's degree in Health Education.

A decorated final season for another defender, Brown adds Academic All-American honors to her resume for the first time. She led the Panthers to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2015 and earned the honor of Northeast-10 Woman of the Year in 2022. She also joins Molly Cuevas `16 as the only other woman to obtain CoSIDA honors as a field hockey student-athlete for the Panthers.

Brown finished off the 2021 season with eight assists and two goals while being selected First Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Her dedication on the field was shown quite frequently while her diligence in the classroom was a key factor to achieve this honor. She earned her undergraduate degree in management and now has a cumulative 3.81 grade point average. She is now in the process of acquiring her master's degree in management while currently having a 3.95 grade point average.

Joining an elite group of female athletes, Brown was also selected as the Northeast-10 Woman of the Year and will now go up for NCAA Woman of the Year consideration.
