Waltham, Mass. - Turning a two-goal deficit into a one-goal advantage was not enough for the no. 5 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team as they dropped a 9-8 overtime loss to no. 11 Le Moyne in the semifinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament on Saturday.
Adelphi - who lost for just the second time this season - regained the lead with its third goal to start the fourth quarter, and tacked on another courtesy of
Kristina Kallansrude with 24 seconds left in regulation. An untimely yellow card issued to
Tamia Lawson gave the Dolphins the man up opportunity which they capitalized on with seven seconds left on the clock to send the game to extra time.
Emma Lemanski had a save in the opening minute but when given the chance to head down field, the Panthers committed a turnover which returned possession to Le Moyne. The Dolphins punched their 20th ticket to the NE10 finals and will face top-seeded Stonehill on Sunday.
The last time the Panthers were bounced from the NE10 playoffs before the finals round - 2019 - the squad went on to win the program's ninth NCAA Division II title. Adelphi will learn its fate in the NCAA Selection show on Sunday, May 8 at 8:00 p.m. on ncaa.com.
