Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Stopped in NCAA Semifinals

St. Charles, MO - With a tie game at the half, the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team was unable to overcome the University of Indianapolis attack, who found the back of the net seven times in the second half en route to an 11-5 victory in the NCAA Division II Semifinals.

Christina McCabe finished her career and season with a three-point performance, courtesy of two goals and one assist as Kerrin Heuser was also responsible for a pair of tallies.

Adelphi (18-3) got the first two goals on the board from McCabe and Kristina Kallansrude before the Greyhounds (21-1) added a couple of their own to even the score at two-all. Heuser got the final strike of the first quarter, giving the Panthers a one-goal edge after 15 minutes of work.

Indianapolis's Quinn Malcolm capitalized on a woman-up possession to start the second, to get things rolling for the Greyhounds. A set of goals, one from both sides saw the teams deadlocked at four, heading into the halftime break.

Three straight goals from the Greyhounds kicked off the third frame for their first lead of the game - and one they wouldn't relinquish. Adelphi struggled to get anything going on offense and were plagued with miscues down the stretch, and were held scoreless in the third as a result.

Gianna Bifulco found a way past Cassidy King with an electric shot to cut the lead to two, but UIndy scored four of the next five goals on its way to their first National Championship appearance since the program's inception seven years ago.

The Greyhounds will now take on East Stroudsburg in the title game after the Warriors defeated Queens (NC) earlier in the afternoon.

The Brown and Gold end their season at 18-3 overall with the program's 14th trip to the Final Four.
