Garden City, N.Y. - On Monday, the Adelphi University women's tennis team put a stamp on its 2021-22 campaign with a 7-0 blanking of Dominican College at the Adelphi Tennis Courts in Garden City.
The Panthers, who close up shop at 11-7 overall, will now await word on a potential at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is set to air next Tuesday (May 3) at 8:30 p.m. on
NCAA.com.
Adelphi departed its home court for the final time this season in a flourish.
While
Barbie Quagliardi and
Caterina Federici won 6-3 at top doubles,
Amanda Franstedt and
Carolina Chaves mixed up the usual line-up at No. 2 doubles and prevailed 6-2.
In singles, Quagliardi made her first No. 1 singles appearance since the fall and won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.
Federici only lost two games at the No. 2 flight in a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Franstedt shut out her opponent in third singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Julia Kielan was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at fourth singles, and
Jenelle Downer cleaned up at the No. 5 flight in a 6-0, 6-0 decision.
