New Castle, Del. - In its final action before next weekend's ECC Championship, the Adelphi University women's bowling team came in third out of 10 teams at The Northeast Roundup, hosted by Wilmington University at Bowlerama in New Castle, Del.
A difference of only 411 pins separated the Top 4 teams in the standings. Over half the field at the tournament will reconvene this weekend (Mar. 25-27) in Coram, N.Y. for the annual ECC Championship.
While Adelphi posted a combined 6-3 record between the Baker and traditional competitions, the Panthers were a near-perfect 6-1 against ECC opponents.
Kristen Derr rolled a team-leading 997 series across the five traditional matches and tied for fifth among bowlers in the field, en route to earning All-Tournament status.
Blanca Fraticelli,
Hailey Spencer and
Megan Wehmeier also started all five matches and exceeded a 900 series. Spencer's 226 tied
Skylar McGarrity for Adelphi's high traditional game of the weekend.
The Panthers, who accumulated a total pinfall of 8.468, cemented their third-place finish, after defeating host Wilmington in a best-of-five Baker match.
In search of its first ECC title since 2017, Adelphi is set to host the ECC Championship this weekend at Coram Country Lanes. The Panthers were in line to capture a conference crown in 2019-20, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic derailed the season.
