Garden City, N.Y. - Joseph Duchnowski scored seven of Adelphi men's lacrosse's 10 goals on Monday evening, en route to a new career-high and 10-7 victory over Connecticut College in non-conference action.
In a game with a combined 80 shots, Adelphi managed to win the clear and faceoff game to help edge the Camels (1-2) on their home turf.
After nearly a week off, the Panthers (3-0) returned to action and after an even first quarter, held their opponent scoreless through the second to take a 5-2 lead heading into the break.
Angelo Caiazzo netted the first goal of the second frame, sparking a four-goal run that spanned into the third.
Michael Paccione found
Jason Rebaudo to make it a four goal-deficit for the Camels, but they did not go down quietly.
The visitors out of New London rattled off the next four tallies unanswered to knot the game at six-all, while outscoring the Panthers 4-1 through 15 minutes of work. From there it was anyone's game but Caiazzo buried a man-up possession to get the Cats going again, as Duchnowski netted a hat trick in the ensuing six minutes to keep Connecticut College at bay.
Sean McGovern wreaked havoc on defense, tallying a career-best five caused turnovers.
Despite the loss, Will Rice collected 11 saves in goal for the Camels, as
Dylan Renner set a new season-high with 12 saves between the pipes for Adelphi.
The Panthers return to Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday when they trip north to Manchester, NH to take on Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Mar. 19.
