Waltham, Mass. - The Panthers 13-game win streak was snapped Friday evening inside the Dana Center as the hosting Falcons of Bentley University took a 3-1 decision to conclude Adelphi volleyball's regular season.
Macarty McQueen and
Brenna Valsted put together double-double efforts in the four set defeat, with Valsted contributing a tema-leading 22 digs and 31 assists.
Adelphi's offense could not get anything going in the opening set, as they hit an even .000 and the hosting Falcons managed to string together several offensive threats to maintain a lead and close out a 25-12 first set decision.
The home team moved to 2-0 in the contest after securing a 25-15 set two victory, but were quickly stifled as the Panthers redeemed themselves with a 25-16 win to force a fourth set.
The Panthers were unable to overcome the home team, ultimately dropping the fourth frame 25-18 and snapping the team's 13-game streak.
Adelphi will still land in the top-four in the conference, thus earning a first round tournament game, scheduled for Thursday, October 10. Game time, against an opponent still to be determined, is set for 7:00 p.m.
