Garden City, N.Y. - On the eve of Thanksgiving Eve, the Adelphi University men's basketball team opened its doors to Le Moyne College, who saw a win inside the Center for Recreation and Sports in a 65-76 decision to mark the Panthers second straight Northeast-10 Conference loss.
A quiet 15 points came from the hands of
Ronnie Silva as
Dayshaun Walton was one of two others in double-figures for Adelphi (2-3, 0-2 NE10) as he finished with 14. Also coming off the bench,
Elijah Lewis used 4-of-9 shooting to contribute an additional 10.
Former Panther Isaiah Salter poured in a team-leading 20 points for Le Moyne, coming off the bench for the Dolphins (2-3,2-0 NE10), who earn their second straight conference victory with the win.
The home team was off to an amenable start in the first half, but let a four-point lead slip away as an 8-2 stretch all from Salter put the visitors ahead with 1:04 left in the opener. A late jumper from Silva made it just in time to cut the deficit, however the Dolphins still managed to edge the competition by three as time expired. From the floor, Adelphi outshot the 'Phins 50 percent to 38 percent respectively, but committed seven more turnovers, on which Le Moyne capitalized with 23 points for the contest.
A 10-3 run in favor of Le Moyne highlighted the opening five minutes of action coming out of halftime, which saw the visiting team hold a six-point lead. The Brown and Gold were held scoreless over the ensuing five minutes, until
Andrew Delaney broke the drought with a swift lay-in. The Dolphins dipped into a double-digit advantage several times, but efforts from Lewis and Silva kept the game in reach til about two minutes remaining in regulation.
In the closing two minutes of action, the foul game began as several miscues did not help the home team cause, resulting in a 65-76 loss.
Adelphi will break for the holiday, but host a non-conference contest against Jefferson University on Sunday, Nov. 27. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
