Garden City, N.Y. - While a win last night would have sealed home-field advantage for two rounds, the Adelphi University men's soccer team's loss to Franklin Pierce University now has the Panthers playing on the road to open up NE10 Championship play on Saturday.

The Panthers, who are 1-3 since losing star striker Rodrigo Descalzo Rocca to injury, are set to travel to Worcester, Mass. this weekend for an opening-round standoff against Assumption University.

It will be Adelphi's second trip this season to Assumption, where the Brown and Gold played the Greyhounds to a 1-1 draw in their regular-season meeting back on Oct. 1.

The two teams will face off Saturday (Oct. 30) under the lights of Brian Kelly Stadium at 6 p.m. in their first-ever postseason affair. To date, Adelphi owns an 8-0-1 record all-time against Assumption in the regular season.

In that tie earlier this month, Daniel De La Heras set a new career-high with seven saves. Victor Castel collected what currently stands as his only road goal of the 2022 campaign.

Amongst a wide-open field, Adelphi is searching to become the first No. 6 seed in NE10 Tournament history to capture a conference championship. In 2019, Assumption accomplished the feat as a No. 5 seed in a 2-1 win over Saint Rose.

The winner of Saturday's contest will meet either No. 2 seed Southern Connecticut State University or No. 7 seed Le Moyne College in a semifinal tilt on Wednesday (Nov. 2) at the higher seed.
