No. 21 Men's Soccer Takes Down AIC on Senior Day, 1-0

Garden City, N.Y. - In a must-have game Saturday night, the No. 21 Adelphi University men's soccer team shut out NE10 rival American International College by a 1-0 final at Motamed Field.

In a salute to their eleven departing seniors, the Panthers improved to 5-3-2 in NE10 play and took over second place in the conference standings.

Junior forward Jesper Mikkelsen put it on himself to get Adelphi ahead early. Only fourteen seconds into the match, Mikkelsen placed a beautifully-executed left-footed strike inside the far post.

The Panthers dominated the opening 45 minutes of action. In addition to maintaining a 6-1 shot advantage, the Brown and Gold kept possession at a stunning 71 percent clip.

Senior keeper Daniel De La Heras -- on his special night -- faced only two shots on goal for the duration of the contest. Both of them came in the second half.

Only one match remains on the 2022 regular-season slate for the Panthers. Adelphi will travel Tuesday to Rindge, N.H. for a 4 p.m. showdown with No. 1 Franklin Pierce University.
