Mansfield, Mass. - As the regular season has concluded, the 2022 NE10 Women's Tennis Championship is set to commence Wednesday with first-round competition.
Adelphi, which finished 6-3 in NE10 play this fall, will go head-to-head with University of New Haven, in first-round action, at 3 p.m. from West Haven, Conn.
In one of the most closely-contested matches for both teams this season, New Haven took the regular-season meeting from Adelphi by a 4-3 final on Oct. 5.
The two teams were also quite tight in the conference standings. Along with Le Moyne, the Panthers and Chargers finished the regular season in a three-way tie for third place.
As all three teams went 1-1 against each other in the regular season, Adelphi earned the No. 5 seed by virtue of the earlier loss to New Haven and its head-to-head match scores against fellow playoff teams.
Starting at the top of the standings, the Panthers fell 6-1 to SNHU, while Le Moyne lost a closer 5-2 result -- consequently breaking the tie.
Last October, Adelphi -- as a No. 4 seed -- reached the finals of the NE10 Championship for the first time since 2017.
