Flushing, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team picked up its tenth win and fifth consecutive victory Tuesday evening after defeating Queens College inside Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
The Panthers (10-2) moved to 8-6 overall against the Knights (1-7) since 2002 and have won the last seven contests since 2008, only dropping one set in that span.
Adelphi was once again led by
Samantha Meehan, who earned inclusion on this week's Northeast-10 Honor Roll for her 3.67 kills per set a week ago. Against Queens she added another 12 kills while nearly completing the double-double with eight digs. This week's NE10 setter of the week topped the team with 16 assists as two-time NE10 Libero of the Week
Jamie Yonker led the defense with 18 digs.
The home team jumped out to an early lead in both the first and third sets, but fell short overall as Adelphi held the advantage in every category including a 6-1 edge in service aces.
Adelphi returns to their home court inside the Center for Recreation and Sports on Thursday, Sept. 23 when they host ECC-foe Molloy College. The last time the two teams met up was in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, dating back to Dec. 5, 2019. The Lions took a 3-1 victory to advance in the region and eventually make their way to the Elite Eight in Denver, Colorado. Molloy is 3-6 heading into Thursdays non-conference matchup, scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
