BACK TO THE SHIP: Women's Lax Holds Off Le Moyne, 9-8

Syracuse, N.Y. -  In a come-from-behind battle, the no. 3-seeded Adelphi University women's lacrosse program is headed back to the Northeast-10 Conference tournament after defeating top-seeded Le Moyne on Thursday afternoon in the Southwest Division Finals at Ted Grant Field.

The win marks the Dolphins (13-1) first loss this season, after concluding the regular season and with an unblemished record.

Kole Pollock and Gianna Bifulco were both responsible for a pair of goals each, as four others found a way past Paige Crandall in the win.

The Panthers (9-3) found themselves down 3-1 after almost 15 minutes of action, but a man-up tally from Pollock at 7:33 brought the visitors within one. Le Moyne added their fourth and fifth goals after a converted free position and a turnover for Adelphi allowed them another opportunity to face Emma Lemanski. Bifulco buried her 15th goal of the season with 4:06 left on the clock, which would stand as the final tally of the half for either side.

Adelphi trailed by at-most, three, when Le Moyne scored the first goal of the second half. Christina McCabe's shifty goal at 25:36 sparked an eventual four-goal run which saw the Panthers tie the game and take their first lead of the contest.

Molly Fetherston came off the bench to contribute a goal off a pass from Christina Ferrara which gave the underdogs a lead they managed to hold on to. A pair of goals courtesy of Kerrin Heuser and Alyssa Gillespie extended the advantage to two, despite an equalizer score from Jessica Meneilly off a free position to make it seven-all.

Meneilly added another strike with 4:14 left in regulation, which left plenty of time for more opportunities at the cage for both sides. Gillespie was tough in the midfield all game, causing a turnover at 2:51 to shift possession as the clock continued to wind down. The Dolphins got off three shots in the final minute and 46 seconds of action, but a ground ball pick up from Lemanski sealed the deal for Adelphi.

Adelphi will make its way back to the NE10 finals for the first time since 2018, when they lost to Le Moyne 14-10. They will take on the winner of Bentley/Saint Anselm out of the Northeast Division. Updates to time and location will be determined and posted on aupanthers.com.
