West Chester, Pa. - The No. 6 Adelphi University field hockey team fell in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Championship to West Chester University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, 4-1.
The Panthers (14-7) made their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since the team's back-to-back appearances in 2014 and 2015.
The 2021 trip marks
Mary Moore's first appearance on the national stage in her tenure as head coach.
Adelphi battled with No. 3 West Chester (16-4), clearing seven shots before the Golden Rams snuck one past the Panthers' defense for a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
West Chester built a 3-0 lead off two third-quarter goals, including one off a penalty stroke. Adelphi took five shots and six penalty corners on the contest to West Chester's 21 and four.
Senior
Alexandra Docyk batted one out of the air in the 47th minute from
Emily Reichenbach to make the score 3-1.
Sophomore
Amanda Montiel made a season-high of 12 saves, ending the season with a 14-6 record.
