Box Score Springfield, Mass. - The Adelphi University field hockey team edged seven goals to shutdown American International College on Wednesday night, 7-0.
The Panthers (5-4, 3-3) were the dominant team from the opening whistle, outshooting the Yellow Jackets (5-6, 3-4) 28-3 on the contest.Â
The first goal of the game came off the stick of
Kaylee Deleva in the sixth minute. Deleva finished the game with two goals, notching her second of the night in the second quarter.
Also chipping in was freshman
Amanda Lee who racked up six shots on goal, landing two in the back of the cage.
Heading into the final quarter of play, Adelphi held a 4-0 lead over AIC.
Jillian Riche,
Giana McKeough and Lee all had one tally apiece in the final 15 minutes of action, with Riche's goal marking the first of her Panther career.Â
Amanada Montiel returned to goal for the Panthers in the NE10 matchup and out of all three shots faced, she saved all three.Â
Adelphi will travel to Saint Michael's College on Saturday (Oct. 9) for a 2 p.m. start before returning to Garden City for a two-game home stand next week.Â
