Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team debuted their freshly-renovated courts Sunday with a 7-0 victory over NE10 foe Assumption University in Garden City.
Although
Barbie Quagliardi and
Caterina Federici dropped a hard-fought 7-6 (8-6) tiebreaker at the top flight, the doubles point had already been awarded to the Panthers (5-2, 4-2 NE10).
Amanda Franstedt and
Louisa Junghanns cruised to a 6-1 victory in second doubles, while
Julia Kielan and
Carolina Chaves won 6-2 at third doubles.
In singles, the bottom half of the Adelphi lineup all made quick work of its opposition, winning in straight sets.
Franstedt wom both her sets by identical 6-2 counts at No. 4 singles. Kielan was a 6-1, 6-0 winner in fifth singles. Chaves came away with a 6-0, 6-1 result at the No. 6 flight.
