Winter Park, Fla. - On Saturday, the Adelphi University softball team capped off its trip to Florida with a split against No. 1 Augustana University and Tiffin University at the DiamondPlex in Winter Park.
Game 1: Adelphi 1, Augustana 4
In the opener, the Panthers (2-7) looked to knock off the reigning national champions and defeat their second Top 5 nationally-ranked opponent in a week.
Unfortunately, Adelphi fell victim to four solo homers by the Vikings in the loss. The Panthers managed to tag Augustana reliever Amber Elliott for a run in the seventh, on a
Kailah Konkel groundout, but it wasn't enough.
Ashley Mickschl made the start for Augustana and let up just one hit in five innings of work. She retired the first 10 batters in order and 15 of 17 Adelphi hitters over the course of her start.
Despite allowing the four homers,
Ally Muller struck out three in four innings of work.
Claire Fon came on for two innings of relief and allowed one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.
Game 2: Adelphi 10, Tiffin 1 - F/5

Megan Sneeden, making it a 7-1 game.
Adelphi would leave no doubt in this one. Laird got another RBI in the fifth. before a Sneeden two-RBI double ended the game in a 10-1 decision for the Panthers.
