Springfield, Mass. - The men's lacrosse team bounced back from a two-game skid earlier this afternoon with a dominating 24-2 win over Northeast-10 foe, American International College.
The Panthers (1-2, 1-0 NE10) excelled at the faceoff, as Phil Brady,
Nick Carlino, Tyloer Brerozi and
Edward Perlstein combined for 21-30 at the X. In the first half alone, they won 13 of 17 attempts. Offensively, the squad was led by
Nicolas Racalbuto, who finished the game with five goals, all scored in the opening two quarters.Â
Adelphi held the home team scoreless in the first 15 minutes of play as the visitors ran up the score, tallying eight in that span.
John Arcidiacono got things going for the Panthers, finding a way past AIC's Vincent Orlandi. From there, four more different players scored for the Brown and Gold, as Racalbuto accounted for one more than a hat trick. Perlstein notched his first score in a Panther uniform to make it 6-0 after
Dylan Crossan found the back of the net for the first time this season.Â
The second frame continued to feature all-Adelphi offense as the visitors tacked on six more goals before American International (2-4, 0-1 NE10) broke the silence with a goal from Avery Foye to head into halftime.Â
Arcidiacono continued his scoring ways, opening the third quarter with a hat trick as the Panthers extended their lead to 16. Crossan and
Devin Kennedy each added a goal of their own before AIC's Cam Menard notched his team's second, and what would be, final score. Crossan capped the third with his third score of the game to make it 20-2.
Adelphi added four more goals before the day was done while the defense kept the hosts at bay. AIC was unable to find the back of the cage and took just three shots in the final frame while turning the ball over eight times.Â
Head Coach
Gordon Purdie and his squad remain on the road and will take on Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, March 14. Game time with the Penmen is set for 2:30 p.m.Â
