Garden City, N.Y. -
The Adelphi University baseball team took down Bloomfield College in a shortened game on Wednesday afternoon, 17-4, at William J. Bonomo Memorial Field.
The contest was called after six-and-a-half innings due to darkness, yet senior captain,
Tyler Becker still manages three hits in the shortened game, bringing him to a career milestone 100 hits.
Despite falling into an early 1-0 hole, Adelphi (3-1) answered in the bottom of the first with a six-run inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from
Tim Feliz.
Then, in the second, Feliz struck again, this time, with a grand slam. The Panthers had a big day at the plate, as they extended their lead to 13 runs by the end of the third inning.
Matt Alifano and senior captain
Lawrence Cicileo both had base-clearing triples in the win.
Adelphi tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, when rookie
Vincent Romano tabbed his first RBI of the season and Feliz drove in his seventh of the day.
Alifano, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, managed four RBIs and two hits on the day, in addition to making his debut on the mound with two strikeouts.
Nicholas Luc logged his first win of the season, coming in for relief. The junior pitched 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.
Head Coach
