No. 18 Bowling Competes Among Nation's Elite at Music City Classic

Smyrna, Tenn. - This past weekend, the No. 18 Adelphi University women's bowling team flew into Nashville for the Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Smyrna Bowling Center.

It was the Panthers' final tournament before the ECC Championships, where Adelphi will vie for its first conference title since 2017, at the Limerick Bowl in Limerick, Pa. from Mar. 20-22.

The Panthers matched up with seven fellow nationally-ranked programs over the weekend, including three Top 10 programs. Adelphi finished 7-6 during the three-day tournament to improve to 63-34 overall.

Skylar McGarrity led the Brown and Gold in Baker play with a 192.7 average, while Kaitlyn Grant bowled the team's best average in traditional matches at 186.6. McGarrity also made 40-of-44 (90.9 percent) makeable spares and 19-of-20 (95.0 percent) single-pin spares in the Baker format and converted a perfect 17-of-17 single-pin spares in traditional play.

McGarrity leads Adelphi in nearly every category this year in Baker matches. She paces the team in frame average (19.76), fill percentage (85.1 percent), first-ball average (9.01), Baker double strike percentage (44.6 percent), total strikes (279), total spares (275), spare-conversion rate (73.9 percent), makeable spare percentage (84.1 percent) and total single-pin spares made (180)

The Panthers will head into the ECC Championships with the best winning percentage (.667) of any of the conference's 14 programs. Adelphi, which also leads the ECC in RPI, has gone 28-11 against league opponents in the regular season.
