West Haven, Conn. - The No. 10 Adelphi University women's basketball team remained a win away from securing home-court advantage in the NE10 Tournament with a 66-52 win against Northeast-10 Conference rival University of New Haven in its 2019-20 regular-season road finale at Charger Gymnasium on Saturday.
Since Stonehill also won, the Panthers (25-2, 16-2 NE10) will have to wait until Tuesday (Feb. 25) to try to clinch home-court advantage on the season's final day against Southern Connecticut State University at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
Fallyn Stephens led all players in the effort with 23 points. She hit seven three-pointers and grabbed five rebounds. It was her third 20-point game in her last four contests.
Leading 26-24 at the half, Adelphi went on a 17-7 run over the entirety of the third quarter to widen the gap to 43-31. The Panthers shot 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from the field in the period and held the Chargers (18-8, 12-7 NE10) to just 3-of-11 (27.3 percent) shooting.
From there, the Brown and Gold never saw their double-digit lead dissipate. Adelphi eventually built as much as a 17-point advantage with 3:54 left in the fourth quarter.
Four players scored in double figures on the afternoon for the Panthers. In addition to Stephens' 23-point day,
Emily Miccile posted 13 points and added six rebounds and three steals.
Jess Camarda had 11 points and dished out two assists.
Leonie Edringer finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds, as well as three steals.
