Croydon, Pa. - After a long holiday break, the No. 21 Adelphi University women's bowling team returned to the lanes this past weekend at the Northeast Classic, hosted by Sacred Heart University and Long Island University at AMF Bristol PIke Lanes in Croydon.

It was a triumphant return for the Panthers (31-21), who went 10-3 over the three-day tournament. Head Coach Dennis Kearney earned career win No. 350 in the process.

Of its 10 wins, Adelphi took down five nationally-ranked teams, including a pair of Top 10 opponents -- Sam Houston State (No. 2) and Stephen F. Austin (No. 8).

The Brown and Gold lost only two matches between the Baker and traditional matches, with those defeats coming at the hands of No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 11 Louisiana Tech.

In Baker play, Adelphi won its four matches by an exceptional average of 90.75 pins. A different Panther eclipsed a score of 200 in each of those games, led by Olivia Lopera's 239 against NJCU.

Then, in traditional format, Adelphi again went 4-1. Megan Wehmeier paved the way for the Brown and Gold with a 200.6 average, which placed her in the Top 10. She was named to the All-Tournament team.

Skylar McGarrity finished 29th among the leaders with an impressive 189.8 average. McKenna Collier followed with a 185.75 average  Taylor Eggert made her collegiate debut and averaged a 179.5 in two games.

In the best-of-7 Baker format, the Panthers won 4-2-1 over Monmouth and fought back from a 2-0 deficit for a 4-2 victory against Wisconsin-Whitewater, before falling to Maryland-Eastern Shore, 4-2, to finish in 10th place.

Kearney and his Adelphi squad will return to action in two weeks (Feb. 1-2) at the Molloy Bowl for a Cure at Jay Lanes in Douglassville, Pa.
