Manchester, N.H. - Despite a career-high performance from
Spencer Foley, the Adelphi University men's basketball team dropped a 117-90 decision Saturday afternoon to Saint Anselm College.
Foley used 12-19 shooting from the field to account for 31 points for the Panthers (13-5, ,6-3 NE10), as Ronnia Silva also drained 12 buckets for 30 points. Also reaching double-digit scoring was
Jared Rivers who accounted for 10. For the Hawks (10-6,6-3 NE10), Miles Tention chipped in 29 points to lead five different players in double-figures.
The home team managed to jump out to a 10-point lead after nine minutes of action, but
Austin Beech capped a 12-0 run with a three-pointer after Silva, Foley and
Dwaine Williams drained shots from beyond the arc to take a two-point advantage. Saint Anselm regained momentum and took over to hold a lead they never relinquished for the remainder of the contest.
Adelphi shot 51 percent from the field in the second half, improving their opening frame percentage, but the Hawks were 5-for-9 from three and worked out to a 30+ lead. In the final 3:10 Foley was responsible for four three-pointers, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
The program returns to action on Wednesday, January 22 when they host Assumption College at 7:30 p.m.
