2019 Fall Cocktail Reception to Feature New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman

8/6/2019 11:29:00 AM

Carle Place, N.Y. -  Current General Manager and Senior Vice President of the New York Yankees major league baseball club, Brian Cashman will join the Adelphi athletics department at the 12th annual Fall Cocktail Reception, scheduled this year for Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, N.Y.

Cashman, a Rockville Centre, N.Y. native, will appear on stage during the evening, along with interviewer Ed Randall from WFAN's "Talking Baseball." Randall, a longtime New York correspondent for ESPN Radio, will interview Cashman about his career in baseball.

Legacy Advisors Financial Group will be the presenting sponsor of the Annual Fall Cocktail Reception for the sixth straight year, as Legacy Advisors Financial Group's Joseph Providenti and Michael Hirson continue in their support of the Fall Cocktail Reception and the Adelphi Athletic Department.

Cashman became the second youngest general manager in the MLB in 1998 after serving as the assistant general manager since 1992. In his first season with the title, the Yankees won 114 games and went on to secure their first of three straight World Series Championships spanning from 1998-2000. In that time frame, Cashman made pivotal moves to secure highly decorated pitcher, Roger Clemens, 2000 ALCS MVP Award Recipient David Justice, and 3x AL MVP Alex Rodriguez.

Cashman went on to acquire AL Cy Young Award Winner CC Sabathia, AL Strikeout Leader ('08) A.J. Burnett, 5x Gold Glove and 3x Silver Slugger Award Winner Mark Teixeira and fan favorite Nick Swisher following the 2008 season, in which they failed to make the playoffs. The following year, the Yankees won 103 games to cap a historic season, in which they secured their 27th World Series title.

During Cashman's tenure as general manager, the Yankees have won six American League pennants and four World Series championships.

Proceeds from the event will support the Panther Club - Adelphi University's primary organization for providing direct support to all men's and women's athletic programs. The Club's goals are simple: to generate support that is needed by our teams to be regionally and nationally competitive; to provide a focal point for students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and the community to rally around; and to create an "esprit de corps" between members.
