Seven Panther athletes from six different teams were selected for the award by the magazine this spring, which honors minority student-athletes who excel in their given sport and in the classroom.

Inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe Jr.'s commitment to education as well as his love for the game of tennis, U.S. colleges and universities participate in this annual awards program by nominating their outstanding sports scholars.
To be included, students have to compete in an intercollegiate sport, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, be at least a sophomore in academic standing, and be active on their campuses or in their communities.
