#11 Baseball Slips By SCSU 2-1 To Continue Win Streak

New Haven, Conn.- After five scoreless innings, the No. 11 Adelphi University baseball team defeated Southern Connecticut State University, 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon, extending its win streak to 14 games.

Jordan Milo, Lucas Terwilliger and Michael Cattani were the lone Panthers in the hit column for Adelphi (28-5, 16-1 NE10), with Milo leading with two hits and Terwilliger and Cattani adding one each. Mark Novello was dealt the win against Southern (17-23, 8-12 NE10), improving the sophomore to 2-0 this season.

Both teams remained scoreless through the first two frames, with just one hit produced between both teams.

In both the bottom of the third and fourth innings, the Owls had a good chance of getting on the board, however Palmerini pitched his way out of both jams to keep goose eggs on the board going into the fifth.

Despite holding the home team scoreless through five, the Owls put up its lone run of the contest in the fifth frame on an RBI double down the right field line. However, the Panthers went up 2-1 on Southern Connecticut in the sixth, taking the lead and keeping it for the duration of the contest.

Following two miscues from the Owl defense to put Colombo on second, a single off Terwilliger's bat scored the tying run for Adelphi. Another fielding error by the home team with Warick at the plate, scored Terwilliger from second and gave Adelphi a lead they would never relinquish.

The Brown and Gold will travel to American International tomorrow in a rescheduled match up against the Yellow Jackets. The first pitch will be thrown at 3:30 p.m. in Springfield, Mass. It will pick up in the second inning from the Monday, April 22 game which was suspended due to weather.
