Inclement Weather Forces Changes to Softball Schedule

2/17/2019 8:00:00 PM

St. George, Utah - Early season inclement weather followed the Adelphi University softball team out West this weekend.

The Panthers were set to begin their season at the Dixie State Softball Classic at Karl Brooks Field on the campus of DSU, but rain caused unplayable field conditions which caused all eight games featuring four teams across three days to be canceled.

Dixie State softball coaches and staff worked throughout the day on Friday to have the field ready for Saturday's games after heavy rainfall throughout the day on Thursday. However, more rain moved through the area early Saturday morning and rendered the field unplayable, which was unable to be rectified in time for the rest of the tournament to be played at all.

The Panthers' 2019 season will begin in earnest on Tuesday, Feb. 19 as they travel to Concordia University in Irvine, Calif. for a doubleheader to begin a three-game series. First pitch of game one is slated for 1 p.m. PST on Tuesday, which is 4 p.m. EST.
