Kenosha, Wis. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team closed out the fall portion of its 2019-20 schedule over the weekend at the Stormin' Ladyjack Classic, hosted by Stephen F. Austin University at Sheridan Lanes in Kenosha, Wis.
The Panthers beat three Top 25 ranked opponents in their visit to the Midwest -- No. 4 University of Nebraska (1,020-976), No. 14 Tulane University (4-1) and No. 18 Maryville University (4-2). Adelphi also came up just short in losses to No. 2 McKendree University (1,023-987) and No. 10 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (993-974).
McKenna Collier was named to the All-Tournament Team, after placing fifth with an outstanding average of 217.8. She exceeded a score of 200 in her five traditional matches, en route to posting a 1,089 series. That included a 248 against Nebraska.
In all, Adelphi placed four of its bowlers in the top-half of the individual leaderboard.
Skylar McGarrity finished 18th with a 204.40 average, while
Olivia Lopera and
Hannah Manetta were 25th (199.6 average) and 30th (197.0 average), respectively. Lopera rolled a 245 against Maryville to lead all Panthers in the Baker format.Â
Megan Wehmeier finished 42nd with a 902 series.
Head Coach
Dennis Kearney and the Panthers will now return after the New Year, when they compete at the Northeast Classic from Jan. 17-19 at AMF Bristol Pike Lanes in Croydon, Pa.
