Manchester, N.H. - On Saturday, the No. 2 Adelphi University men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 road victory against Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action at Melucci Field in Manchester.
The win improved Adelphi to 13-0-1 overall and 8-0-1 in NE10 play. The Panthers have also not allowed a goal in their last three road games.
Adelphi took the early lead in the ninth minute. Just 8:42 into the contest,
Joseph Thomann fired a shot into the lower-right corner of the net for his first collegiate goal.
While Saint Anselm (6-8, 2-8 NE10) had 11 total shots on the day, the Hawks only put two of those attempts on target. Senior keeper
Matt Apicella made a save in each half to preserve the clean sheet for the Panthers. It was his first shutout of 2019.
Adelphi added to its lead in the second half, when
George Yusuff buried a one-timer from
Aidan Keenan in the 59th minute to make it a 2-0 game.
The Panthers held a 16-11 advantage in shots in the match. Twelve of those 16 shots were on goal. Additionally, Adelphi earned nine corner kicks to Saint Anselm's two.
