Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Tops No. 24 Bentley University, 92-82

Garden City, N.Y. – With the help of a seven-point advantage at halftime, the Adelphi University men's basketball team took down a ranked opponent for the second time this month in no. 24 Bentley University Wednesday evening, 92-82 in the Center for Recreation and Sports.

Conor McGuinness used 10-16 shooting from the field to fall two short of his career-high, finishing with 24 points. Four-time Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, Ronnie Silva followed suit with 20 points of his own as the two Panther leaders combined for 11 assists and six rebounds. For the Falcons (15-4, 8-4 NE10) all but one starter reached double-digit points, as Chris Hudson lead the charge with 19.

Bentley never captured a lead for the entire 40 minutes of regulation, but reached ties in the opening three minutes on two occasions. The Panthers (12-7, 6-5 NE10) capitalized on turnovers in the first half, turning it into 11 points, and totaling 21 points off turnovers for the contest.

The home team, in front of a packed CRS, managed to extend their lead to double figures with the help of 13 first half points from Nick Cambio with 5:17 left on the clock but the Falcons stayed the course and kept the game within reach as the first frame expired.

Adelphi opened the second half with a 7-2 run, capped with a three point play from Oswald Parker III. Bentley struggled to string anything together as the hosts continued to run the floor, using eight unanswered points to stretch out to a 14-point advantage. The visitors nailed back-to-back threes to spark a 10-2 run of their own to come within three but the Panthers countered with seven straight and Bentley never got closer than eight the rest of the way. The Brown and Gold put the game away with 11 unanswered, a run that included both Silva and McGuinness connecting from downtown.

The home team was responsible for advantages in bench points (27-6) and field-goal percentage (58.7) as their opponents had the rebounding edge, 35-31, and two more free throws, 10-8

The Panthers will look to their win streak on Saturday afternoon, as they welcome the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University to the CRS for a 3:30 p.m. contest, following their counterpart's tip-off at 1:30 p.m.
