Limerick, Pa. - For the first time in 2019, the Adelphi University women's bowling team was back on the lanes over the weekend.
The Panthers posted an 18th-place overall finish at the Kutztown Invitational in their return to competition for the new calendar year, with an overall pinfall of 12,758.
In a field of over 200 bowlers,
McKenna Collier shined, as she finished 11th in the field for the Panthers with a traditional average of 211.0. The junior from Brick, N.J. posted three games of 200-plus across five traditional matches for Adelphi on Saturday, which included a team-high 236 in a 994-980 setback to Stephen F. Austin.
Rookie
Megan Wehmeier posted a 204 to help Adelphi open Saturday with a 953-951 win over Maryville, while Collier's 218 and
Meghan Doris' 210 helped the team to a 941-847 win over LIU Post.
Wrapping up Saturday's play,
Skylar McGarrity led the way with a 193 to help the Panthers defeat Medaille, while
Kaitlyn Grant stepped in for her first appearance on the afternoon and contributed a 170 to the cause as well.Â
In opening-day Baker play, the Panthers went 2-3 overall, earning wins over Wilmington (Del.) and Howard, and finished the weekend with a bracket victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday.
The Panthers will return to the lanes in two weeks when they travel to the Golden Bear Classic in Reading, Pa. over the weekend of Feb. 8-10.
