Women's Tennis Edged by SNHU, 4-3

Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team dropped a tight 4-3 decision against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday afternoon, in a match which came down to the final set of the deciding singles match.

The league match came down to the No.1 singles flight, and SNHU's Anna Sala came from a set down to defeat Adelphi's Nicole Kielan in the final set, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. The victory for Sala gave the Penmen (5-4, 4-3 NE10) an unassailable 4-2 lead in the match, an advantage that the visitors held after claiming the doubles point.

Sala and Sofia Morais defeated Kielan and Samantha Perri in the tie-breaking set at No.1 doubles, as Karen Serina and Nicole Stay first recorded a 6-0 win at No.2.

After the Panthers (4-2, 3-2 NE10) were victorious at Nos. 5 and 2 singles to even the match at 2-all, reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week Alexxa Etienne posted a 7-5, 6-3 win against Serina at No. 3 to give SNHU the advantage.
