Plainview, N.Y. - Competing in a pair of one-day Baker tournaments hosted by Molloy College over the weekend, the Adelphi University women's bowling team scored a team victory and a runner-up finish behind a 9-1 overall record across the two days of play at AMF Plainview.
The Panthers claimed their third team title of the season with a win on Sunday, after having also won the Sacred Heart Bowl for the Cure event in October and the Wilmington (Del.) Wildcat Invitational in December.
Adelphi went 5-0 on the first day, with wins over New Jersey City, Daemen, St. Peter's, Medaille and Wilmington (Del.), but finished in second with a total pinfall of 4,487 and an average per game of 179.5.
Daemen took the team title on Saturday with a total pinfall of 4,516 and an average of 180.6, despite a 3-2 record overall.
Katelyn LaRocca was named MVP for the Panthers on day one with a frame average of 19.74, while
Olivia Lopera joined her on the All-Tournament team with an 18.4 frame average.
On day two, the Brown and Gold topped the standings with a 4,382 pinfall total and an average of 175.3, besting Medaille by 16 total pins and 0.7 on average. Lopera earned a second All-Tournament selection behind an 18.87 frame average on day two, while
McKenna Collier scored an 18.63.
After being upended by the host Lions in the first match of Sunday's play, the Panthers finished strongly with four wins against St. Thomas Aquinas, Franklin Pierce, LIU Post and NJCU.
The Panthers are back in action on the weekend of March 2, when they compete at the Monmouth Hawk Fight in New Jersey. It is the Panthers' last tournament of the regular season, before hosting at the East Coast Conference Championships.
