New Castle, Del. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team closed out the 2018 calendar year with a fourth-place finish at the second annual Wilmington Wildcat Classic over the weekend, hosted by Wilmington University.

Behind a perfect 10-0 record in the first two days of competition, the Panthers tallied a total pinfall of 9,013 to lead the 12 schools competing for the weekend and topped the standings heading into bracket play.

However, the Brown and Gold were unable to replicate their magic touch over the course of Sunday's action, dropping all three matches in bracket play to Caldwell, Chestnut Hill and LIU Post. Chestnut Hill were eventually declared champions, with Caldwell finishing in second and LIU Post in third.

Adelphi had all five of its key bowlers place in the Top 20 of the individual standings in a field of over 100, and were paced by a fifth-place finish from junior McKenna Collier. Collier, who placed second at the event last year, rolled a 187.6 traditional average to finish just two tenths in front of teammate and classmate Olivia Lopera, who placed sixth.

Outside the Top 10, Meghan Doris and Skylar McGarrity placed 11th and 12th, respectively, behind averages of 182.4 and 181.6, while Megan Wehmeier rounded out the team's effort with an 18th-place finish and a 173.6 average.

In Friday's Baker play, the Panthers defeated Kutztown, Penn State Altoona, Bloomfield, St. Vincent's (PA) and Molloy, before following that up with wins over Caldwell, Chestnut Hill, NJCU, Wilmington and Medaille on Saturday in traditional play. Against Caldwell, Doris rolled a team-high 213, and she also chipped in a 244 in the win over NJCU. Collier led the way with a 225 against Chestnut Hill, while Lopera's 202 and 233 were the team's best marks against Wilmington and Medaille.

The Panthers return to action in the New Year, as they will next compete in the Kutztown Invitational on the weekend of Jan. 18-20.
