East Haven, Conn. - For the second straight year, the Adelphi University bowling team captured the overall title at the one-day Bowl for the Cure event hosted by Sacred Heart University on Saturday.
The Panthers went through five matches unbeaten with a total pinfall of 4,570 and an average of 182.8, putting them ahead of second-place Molloy College, who posted a 177.5 average, by 133 total pins.
The team win is the Brown and Gold's second in two editions of the event, having gone through the field unbeaten in back-to-back years.

Megan Wehmeier led the way for the Brown and Gold, as both were named to the All-Tournament team. The pair placed fourth and fifth individually, respectively, with a combined five games over 200 and averages of 199.6 and 193.Â
McKenna Collier finished third for the Panthers, also landing in the Top 10 at 10th overall with a 186.2 average.
The Brown and Gold scored victories over Molloy, LIU Brooklyn, Caldwell, the host Pioneers and LIU Post to seal its first team victory over the season. Collier led the way against Molloy with a team-best 210, while reigning East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week
Kaitlyn Grant rolled a 208 to lead Adelphi's effort against LIU Brooklyn.
McGarrity led the way with a 224 and 211 against Caldwell and LIU Post, respectively, while Wehmeier's 234 against Sacred Heart was the best score for any Panther on the afternoon.Â
The Panthers will next compete in the Caldwell Cougar Classic on Friday, Oct. 26- Sunday, Oct. 28. Caldwell's first-ever home tournament will be held at Rockaway Lanes in Rockaway N.J. Â
