Reading, Pa. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team finished near the top of the standings once more at its season-opening tournament at the Bud Whitman Memorial over the weekend, placing fourth in Saturday's Baker tournament and second in Sunday's traditional event.
The Brown and Gold posted a 4-1 record on Saturday in Baker play, with wins over Delaware State, Wilmington (Del.), St. Francis Brooklyn and Penn State Behrend, with its lone loss coming to Mount Saint Mary's. The team totaled a pinfall of 4,407 in Baker play, with a game average of 176.3.
On day two, the Panthers swept traditional action, defeating LIU Brooklyn, Howard, Duquesne, Kutztown and Molloy. The Panthers and Molloy Lions tied in both overall pinfall (4,557) and average (182.3), but the head-to-head win for the Panthers awarded them second place behind St. Francis Brooklyn.Â
The Terriers finished first in scoring average on day two, posting 185.8 pins per frame. Adelphi and Wilmington were the only two teams to finish the day unblemished, going 5-0.Â
