Women's Tennis Keeps Rolling with 8-1 Win at Merrimack

Middleton, Mass. - Though inclement weather pushed the match back over five hours, and indoors, the Adelphi University women's tennis team had little trouble adjusting to the change in schedule on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Merrimack College Warriors, 8-1 on the road.

Originally slated for an 11 a.m. start, the Panthers and Warriors got underway at the Northeast Tennis Center at 4:30 p.m.

A doubles sweep for Adelphi (6-1, 5-1 NE10) helped set the tone in the match, as the Panthers dropped just three games in three sets, led by Samantha Perri and Elizabeth Kallenberg scoring their second straight 8-0 win at No.2 doubles.

As play moved to singles, Nicole Kielan (No.3) and Karen Serina (No.5) each had statement wins, dropping just one game each against their Merrimack (3-2, 3-2 NE10) foes, as the Brown and Gold picked up five straight sets victories in singles to earn the victory. Perri stayed perfect in singles play this season with a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No.4 spot, marking just the second match this season in which she's lost more than two games total.
