Waltham, Mass. -- The Adelphi University women's tennis team pressed the reset button after its first defeat of the season on Saturday, picking up an 8-1 Northeast-10 Conference win against the Bentley University Falcons less than 24 hours later on Sunday.
A doubles sweep put the Panthers (3-1, 2-1 NE10) in command of the match, while four of the team's five singles wins came in straight sets.
Nicole Kielan and Vanja Savic kicked off the match in emphatic fashion with an 8-1 win at the third flight, before Adelphi posted identical 8-4 wins at No. 2 and No. 1 to go into singles with a 3-0 lead over the Falcons (5-2, 3-2 NE10).
Samantha Perri had the statement win for Adelphi at No. 4 singles, dropping just one game, while Kielan surrdered three at No. 3 singles for a dominant win as well. In the two three-setters on the day,
Elizabeth Kallenberg recorded her first three-set win of the season in a match tiebreak, while
Rebecca Fakas, despite falling in a third set match tiebreak, saved six consecutive match points to level the breaker at 9-9 before ultimately falling in the top spot.
