Mansfield, Mass. - The Adelphi University volleyball team, who garnered three first place votes this preseason has been selected to finish fourth with a total of 160 points in the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Tuesday. The Panthers sit behind defending East Region Champions American International, defending Northeast-10 Champions New Haven and Le Moyne College.

The Yellow Jackets return a number of key players from last year's team that finished 28-7. AIC received 185 total points, including eight first place votes to claim the top spot. New Haven finished second with 178 points and four first place selections. Rounding out the top five were Le Moyne (166), Adelphi (160), and Pace 139.

The top four teams were only separated by 25 total points, with three of the four receiving multiple first place votes.

The 2017 volleyball season opens for the majority of NE10 teams on Friday, September 1. The Brown and Gold begin their campaign on the west coast at the CSSM Cougar Classic, hosted by Cal State San Marcos. The NE10 season will culminate with the NE10 Championship, which will begin with Quarterfinal Round action on Tuesday, November 14. The Semifinals will be played on Friday, Nov. 17, while the Championship Match will take place the next day, Saturday, Nov. 18.
