Stephanie Staiano put herself in scoring position with a leadoff triple. and was later plated when Berard reached on a throwing error. Cutuli drove in the second run of the inning as a single up the middle scored Berard. Defense dominated the game as the Owls were held scoreless through the first five innings, but Southern Connecticut squeezed out one run at the top of the sixth to cut the home team's lead in half, but couldn't produce anything more as the Panthers went home with the 2-1 victory.
Lindsay Mapes went the distance in the circle for the Brown and Gold, allowing six hits and one run while fanning four. Her record improves this season to 11-5.
Game 2

After the Brown and Gold evened the score in the bottom of the third, SCSU scored one in the fourth to regain the lead.
Cuccio tripled down the left line in the bottom of the fifth, putting her 60 feet from tying the score, and managed to do just that when Camera singled to left field.
