Finalists Announced for #DubThatCat Panther Mascot Contest-- VOTE NOW!

VOTE HERE
Garden City, N.Y. -- The four finalists for the #DubThatCat Panther mascot naming contest, selected after over 300 submissions were received by the Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, have been announced this week.

The remaining names -- Eddy, Augie, Paws and Charlie -- will now be up for a fan vote here at aupanthers.com until April 12, after which the votes will be counted and the Panther will be dubbed the name with the most votes.

Eddy has been nominated in honor of the university's third president Dr. Paul Dawson Eddy, and one of the university's residence halls also bears his name. Eddy led Adelphi from 1937-65, created Adelphi's School of Nursing in 1944 and the School of Social Work in 1949, while also spearheading the establishment of Adelphi's program in doctoral education in 1950. Also a nominated namesake for a famous man in the university's lore is Charlie, nominated in honor of Charles Herbert Levermore, the founder and first president of Adelphi from 1896-1912. Augie, a nod to the university's initials -- AU -- and Paws round out the final four.
