#10 Women's Hoops Conquers Le Moyne, 66-60, on Senior Night

Garden City, N.Y.  -- With her 18th double-double of the season, senior Sierra Clark led the No. 10 Adelphi University women's basketball program to a 66-60 victory over Le Moyne College on Wednesday evening's Senior Night.

Prior to tip-off,  the Panthers celebrated the accomplishments of Calli Balfour, Clark and Sierra Schrader, and recognized their senior manager Eryka Windley.

Accompanying her team-high 25 points, Clark capped her double-double with 14 rebounds and added four blocks to her final stat line for the Panthers (23-3, 18-1 NE10). Also in double-figures for the home team were Simone Hobdy and Balfour, who finished with 17 and 14, respectively. As a team, the Panthers capitalized on visitor turnovers, scoring 13 and the hosts also notched as many second chance points for the contest. For Le Moyne (13-11, 9-9 NE-10), Joanna Dobrovosky collected a team-high 17 points and added nine boards.

The Panthers got out to a slow start in the first frame, as the visiting Dolphins commanded an 11-4 lead after five minutes of action. Clark was responsible for six of the hosts' eight points as the first quarter came to a close. Balfour put the Panthers back on track with an early trip to the free throw line in the second quarter, sparking a 12-0 run in the Center for Recreation and Sport. Hodby netted a three-pointer at the 6:51 mark to come within two, and a turnover and steal allowed Julia Gnieser to knock down a three of her own to give the Brown and Gold their first lead since the opening basket.

Adelphi turned around a dismal first quarter field-goal shooting percentage from 16.7 to 42.9 percent in the second to hang onto a lead as both teams broke for the locker room. Clark, who registered 14 first-half points was shooting 4-for-8 from the field and was perfect at the charity stripe, going 6-for-6. All five starters for the Dolphins scored, but the home team was able to hold their only advantage in rebounds, including 11 offensive boards.

Clark knocked down a three to give Adelphi a nine-point cushion, forcing Le Moyne to call a timeout in the third. The visitors were kept at bay, coming as close as six but contributions from Hobdy, Gnieser and Clark helped the Panthers maintain their lead. At the 8:57 mark in the final quarter, Ailayia Demand registered a shot from downtown that brought the Dolphins within two, but the Brown and Gold were able to respond with back-to-back layups courtesy of Hobdy and Balfour.

With less than five on the clock, Hobdy registered her 13th point of the game, completing a three-point play after driving through traffic and drawing the foul. Despite the Dolphins outscoring the hosts 23-21 in the last quarter, Adelphi hung on to earn the six-point victory.

The Panthers close out the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 21 when they travel to American International for a 5:30 pm NE10 contest.

NOTES
- The Panthers topped the NCAA East Regional rankings in the first edition released this afternoon, and have clinched the top seed in the NE10's Southwest Division for the conference tournament.
- Clark added to her nation's best tally of double-doubles, a statistic she shared with AIC's Dana Watts entering play.
