Garden City, N.Y. - In an effort to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research, the Adelphi University volleyball team has deemed the games on October 20-21 as "Dig Pink Weekend."
In the week leading up to the games, the team will be selling pink volleyball t-shirts and ribbons at other Adelphi events, as well as promoting their "Dig-A-Thon". Supporters are encouraged to support by donating a flat amount or pledging an amount per dig in the Northeast-10 Conference contests against Southern New Hampshire (10/20) and Franklin Pierce University (10/21).Â
In volleyball, "side-out" means regaining control of the ball. Similarly, The Side-Out Foundation helps people with breast cancer regain control of their lives. Side-Out directly funds "game-changing" breast cancer research and support. The organization raises millions that fund cutting-edge clinical trials at renowned medical institutions.
This unique approach is successfully extending the lives of people with stage 4 breast cancer. A portion of the money raised through Side-Out also goes to high-quality support services for cancer patients and their families.
