Women's Tennis Edged by Bentley, 5-4

Garden City, N.Y. -- Playing with a shortened lineup, the Adelphi University women's tennis team was edged by a 5-4 decision on Sunday afternoon against the visiting Bentley University Falcons.

The Panthers were forced to surrender a pair of points at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles due to injury, and fell behind 3-1 headed to singles play thanks to a split at doubles. At top flight, Rebecca Fakas and Samantha Perri earned an 8-3 victory, but the Falcons took an 8-5 decision by Katie Brandow and Hannah Fabianski at No. 2 over Karen Serina and Vanja Savic.

While Fakas kept her strong season going with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles to remain perfect on the year, and Perri and Serina also chipped in two-set wins, Brandow and Fabianski proved to be key for the Falcons in singles, as they earned points for the visitors at No. 5 and No. 2 respectively to clinch the match.
