Rindge, N.H. -- The Adelphi University women's tennis team picked up its third straight win on Sunday afternoon, blanking the Franklin Pierce University Ravens by a 9-0 decision in a road Northeast-10 Conference contest.
The Panthers swept doubles play to get off to a 3-0 lead in the match, with
Elizabeth Kallenberg and
Samantha Perri leading the way with an 8-0 win at second flight. Finishing first for the Brown and Gold was the pair of
Vanja Savic and
Maria Bruzon Gutierrez, who recorded an 8-1 win at No. 3, before
Rebecca Fakas and
Karen Serina closed out doubles with an 8-2 win at No. 1.Â
A pair of double bagel wins for Fakas and Savic in singles led the way for the Panthers (5-1, 5-1 NE-10) in the sweep as Savic clinched the victory with the Brown and Gold's fifth point, while Serina was nearly perfect at No. 3 with the loss of just one game. Finally, three 8-1 pro set wins for Kallenberg (No. 1), Perri (No. 5) and Bruzon Gutierrez (No. 6) closed out the match over the Ravens (2-6, 2-5 NE-10).
