Women's Tennis Topples SNHU, 6-3, in Home Opener

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team came out victorious in its home opener on Saturday morning, 6-3 over the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire, 6-3.

The Panthers (2-0, 2-0 NE-10) started off the morning taking two of the three doubles matches, as Rebecca Fakas and Karen Serina won 8-2 at top flight doubles while Elizabeth Kallenberg and Samantha Perri needed just one more game to win at No. 2, 8-3.

Fakas and Serina continued their momentum in singles, as both posted two-set wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Perri and Savic proved to be the differencemakers for the Brown and Gold in singles, as they both scored three set victories to seal the win. Perri rebounded from dropping the middle set by posting a bagel set in the third to win, 6-3, 5-7, 6-0, while Savic rallied after dropping an opening set tiebreak to roll in the second and win the match tiebreak.
