Garden City, NY - The Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Panther Club will host its 9th Annual Fall Cocktail Reception, presented by Legacy Advisors Financial Group, on Monday, October 17 at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, N.Y. The event will feature Major League Baseball All-Star and 1971 American League Rookie of The Year Chris Chambliss as the evening's special guest. He will appear on stage during the evening, along with interviewer Ed Randall from WFAN's "Talking Baseball".

Chambliss spent four seasons with the Cleveland Indians (1971-74), six in a New York Yankee Uniform (1974-79) and seven with the Atlanta Braves (1980-86), before retiring as a member of the Yankee's in 1988. The AL Rookie of The Year in 1971, Chambliss was an All-Star in 1976 and was a member of two New York Yankee World Series Champion teams as a player.
 
After concluding his playing career Chambliss turned to coaching, spending time with five different organizations primarily as a hitting coach. He helped the Yankees to four World Series titles as a coach (1996, 1998-2000) and is one of just two individuals to wear pinstripes as a player and a coach, joining Willie Randolph.

Randall, a longtime New York correspondent for ESPN Radio, will interview Chambliss about his career in baseball. Randall is also a regular contributor on ESPN Classic's anthology shows and hosts the Sunday morning radio program "Ed Randall's Talking Baseball," which airs on New York's WFAN-AM and nationally on Sirius XM Radio's MLB Home Plate channel.

The Panther Club is Adelphi University's primary organization for providing direct support to all men's and women's athletic programs. The Club's goals are simple: to generate support that is needed by our teams to be regionally and nationally competitive; to provide a focal point for students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and the community to rally around; and to create an "esprit de corps" between members.
